Rayat Bahra College of Nursing, Mohali organized one day educational workshop on "BLS- Basic Life Support" on 14th August, 2015. Around 60 final year B.Sc Nursing and Post Basic B.Sc Nursing students and faculty members of the college participated in this workshop.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. (Mrs.) Chander K.Sarin, Director- Principal, Rayat Bahra College of Nursing, Mohali. Dr. Pani Kumar, an Emergency physician from IHELP (International Health Emergency Learning and Preparedness), Gurgaon accredited to AHA and IAO addressed the gathering and discussed about the essential emergency care as heart attacks are the leading cause of deaths in the India.
This workshop aimed to train participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation –CPR skills to be used on victims of all ages, give high-quality chest compressions and deliver appropriate mouth to mouth and bag-mask ventilation. Re-demonstrations were taken from all the students which allowed instructor to observe students and guide students' in acquisition of practical skills. It also covered airway management and related pharmacology.
The session remained interactive throughout & the feedback from students evaluated it as an enriched learning experience. The workshop winded up smoothly at 4:30 pm with much appreciation from the all. Upon successful completion, students received a BLS Certificate.
